WIAD is a non-profit research registered association that has extensive experience in organising and coordinating large-scale national and international co-operative studies, health related projects as well as research management, mostly externally funded. WIAD was founded in 1978 and currently employs 12 scientists in disciplines relevant to social support for women including sociology, education, economics, medicine, psychology, public health and statistics. Projects concentrate inter alia on the fields of research in prison including training for prison staff, health promotion, HIV-prevention, drug use and infectious diseases. Further fields of expertise are on migration and health care research, migrant women’s health and mental health as well as health care provision of migrant women, social medicine and epidemiology. WIAD has managed projects commissioned by the European Commission, Ministries, health insurances and international organisations like the World Health Organization (WHO).
